Michael J. Gallagher, M.D., has been appointed vice president and global head of Medical Affairs at Kendle. Dr. Gallagher will provide global leadership for the company’s Medical Affairs organization, which consists of medical directors who serve as medical monitors and therapeutic advisors in key areas such as protocol design, endpoint selection and inclusion/exclusion criteria, providing a committed resource across the clinical development process as compounds progress through studies and product lifecycles.

“Medical know-how is critical to the success of any clinical program, especially the design, review and implementation of clinical trial protocols,” said Stephen Cutler, Ph.D., senior vice president and chief operating officer. “Dr. Gallagher’s broad and diverse medical knowledge as well as his extensive clinical trials experience will further strengthen our ability to contribute high-level, strategic therapeutic advice to meet our customer’s clinical development goals.”

Dr. Gallagher most recently served as the Global Gastrointestinal Therapeutic Area Group Leader for ICON Clinical Research, where he also held positions including medical director and associate medical director for the Medical Affairs group. Prior to joining ICON, he served as associate medical director of Medical and Scientific Affairs and Clinical Operations Manager for Medex Clinical Trials Services and PharmaNet. Dr. Gallagher has experience working in therapeutic areas across all phases of drug development, with particular expertise in gastrointestinal medicine, CNS, rheumatology, respiratory disease, pain management, infectious disease and genitourinary disorders.
